SHOOTING RESEARCHER: the levels
ANTON BAUER X MEDIA CYMRU X AMDANI FILM
The Amdani project aimed to create a proof-of-concept film using sustainable practices and technology. I had to thoroughly explore the narrative and contextual elements, the people involved, and the technologies used to produce an engaging short documentary that effectively captured this journey. Whilst the Amdani project focused on delivering a proof-of-concept film developed using sustainable practices and technology. I had to dig deep into the narrative and contextual elements, people involved, and the technology utilised, to produce a short documentary that engagingly captured this journey.
Throughout 2024 - 2025, I was involved in a high-profile Media Cymru Funded project based around sustainable filmmaking.
My dual responsibility was assisting with R&D for new and exciting sustainable filmmaking methods, whilst also developing a short BTS documentary about the project.
TALKING HEADS
KEY POINTS OF VIEW
I conducted talking head interviews both on set, at houses, and online with key contributors to the project, including the author of the novel on which the proof of concept film ‘The Levels’ was based.

COMMUNICATING A SUSTAINABILITY & PRACTICALITY FOCUSED VISION
I assisted in identifying key ways that we could slim down our tech and make it more sustainable. Understanding these elements was key to communicating the practical steps we were taking to the audience of Media Cymru innovators.
Some of the elements I collaborated with the team on R&D for:
Hybridised roles, a small and effective team capable of shooting small-scale scenes that still maintained the HETV drama feel with a guerrilla flavour.
Refurbished Kit, FX3 and Cinema Lenses in a hybrid rig to achieve a more manoeuvrable camera rig that maintained quality.
Electric and Sodium Ion powered tech, this included the SALT E DOG, a sodium generator created by Anton Bauer, as part of our arrangement, where I also provided them with brand social media video of the kit on set.
